Frequently
Asked Questions
Is
your product approved by local authorities?
Yes. The Saniflo range has both BBA certification and Building Control
National Type Approval. This means that all local authorities permit the
installation of a Saniflo as an additional facility to the principal gravity
discharge WC.
How long does the unit last?
All Saniflo products carry a full 2 year guarantee and there is full servicing,
spares and technical back up. Generally, we would expect a lifespan of
at least 7-10 years.
How often does your unit need servicing?
Installed and used correctly, the unit is very reliable. However
like all things your Saniflo will benefit from regular servicing.
What can I use to disinfect/clean the unit? The units will accept
most standard domestic disinfectants (bleach, Domestos type products etc).
Try to avoid foaming varieties, which may be agitated by the pump action.
Do not use strong acids, de-scalants or solvents (such as white spirit).
Is the range noisy in operation?
No. In fact the sound of the motor may often be drowned out by the noise
of the cistern refilling. However, to ensure you do not create a noise
factor on installation, please note the following:
1) The Saniflo unit should not stand on bare floorboards, which can act
as a soundboard, causing resonance. It is advisable to insulate with carpeting,
underlay, rubber matting, foam or other suitable vibration absorbing material.
2) Ensure the Saniflo is not jammed against either the WC pan or the wall,
thus causing resonance.
3) Ensure pipework is correctly clipped to the wall/floor joists, as vibration
and noise may otherwise occur in the pipework itself.
Are the units available in different colours?
The Saniflo range is produced in white only.
What kind of items could block the unit?
The units are designed to work effectively on WC waste and water. (not
Sanishower or Sanivite.) Cotton, cloth, string (e.g. sanitary towels,
tampons, cotton wool buds, nappy liners etc) as well as objects made of
wood, plastic, rubber (condoms) polythene sheet etc may block or jam the
Saniflo unit. The now popular moist wipes also tend to cause blockages.
